The lavender essential oil has been used for thousands of years. From the ancient Egyptians, who embalmed bodies with it and incorporated it into their cosmetic products, to the Romans who also used it as a part of skincare routine and perfume used to seduce men. Even now it is still one of the most used essential oils, the kind you surely have to have in your medicine cabinet!
Lavender oil is rich in antioxidants, which will protect your skin against harmful external influences and premature ageing, which makes it an ideal addition for any DIY day cream. Known for its soothing properties, it can be used as a massage oil. The purifying properties of lavender essential oil also make it a great aid in dealing with blemishes and pimples.
How to use lavender essential oil
Never use more than 0.5 - 1% essential oil and always dilute it in a carrier oil or butter. E.g, for 1 gram of lavender essential oil use 100 grams of almond oil or shea butter. Apply the oil as needed on cleansed skin.
You can also mix a few drops into your shampoo for a wonderful scent and nourished scalp!
Note: avoid the eyes, ears and sensitive spots on the skin. Not for internal use. Consult with a specialist before use. Keep out of reach of children.
