Patchouli oil was often used as a perfume in the hippie era and for good reason: the powerful sweet-spicy scent is very seductive and therefore ideal as an air freshener or addition to shampoo or cream. In addition to the wonderful aroma of the oil, it also has fantastic properties that help your keep your skin and hair to look radiant and well-nourished.
The patchouli essential oil is like a fine wine: the quality gets better with age. Over the years, the oil becomes more viscous, more powerful and more fragrant - not a bad idea at all to keep a jar in the cupboard.
Usage
When using on your skin, always dilute the essential oil in a carrier oil or butter, such as almond or jojoba oil, and do not use more than 1 (1ml essential oil per 100ml carrier oil).
Apply the oil (diluted) where necessary on cleansed skin. You can also add a few drops of patchouli essential oil to your shampoo. Use a dash of vinegar and a few drops of patchouli oil instead of a fabric softener to make your laundry wonderfully soft and keep the moths out of the wardrobe.
Use this oil in an oil lamp/diffuser or a fragrance block to fill your home with a cozy smell. To use the essential oil in the bath, mix a few drops of patchouli oil with a neutral bath gel or bath oil.
