Gianduja paste was originally created in Turin, Italy in the 1800s. With a trade blockade underway, access to cacao supplies were limited and the Italian artisans needed to make their chocolate go further without losing the intensity of the dark chocolate flavour. Ingeniously the Turinese chocolatier Michele Prochet combined chocolate with two simple ingredients that were readily available: hazelnuts and oil. That masterful discovery is revisited in our Gianduja by using the best single origin cacao and unrefined ingredients.
We’ve lovingly recreated this delicious Italian treat, using our organic direct-trade cacao (Arriba Nacional) from Ecuador, British cold-pressed rapeseed oil, organic hazelnuts and finishing them with a dusting of cacao powder. They’re deliciously soft and melt perfectly in your mouth, unlocking the wealth of flavour and texture inside.
Coco Caravan chocolate making was born from a moment of clarity. The company started as Chocolates by Jacques in Australia and moved to Cardiff, Wales in 2013, where it started Coco Caravan. After two successful years in Cardiff the brand decided to move to the heart of the Cotswolds in Stroud. Their approach to life and products is focused around care for a healthy environment, anthroposophical education and holistic wellbeing. Waldorf Steiner education is very much inline with this approach and our children would have access to that education here in Stroud.
Today's chocolate has become so far removed from the real thing that we wanted to make something the way it is meant to be: Raw and Pure.
A taste sensation wrapped in a chocolate bar, enjoy...
